Session 148 – The Madness Dome Interlude

None of the players relevant to last session’s adventure were able to make it on new years day, so the party skipped back a week in time to a little one off adventure pursued by Jeb and Classified the Sexassin. They started off by visiting a curio shop where they met a squirrel who lives off of drugs (didn’t buy it), saw a crystal which causes debt for whomever owns it (which prompted a 45 minute conversation about how they could trick Mr. Burns into owning it, which eventually led nowhere. They didn’t buy it.) The recieving end of a temporally displaced glory hole (Classified bought it. Jeb studied it a bit and learned that this end of it is a fairly basic combination of time and portal magic.) and a map to somewhere called “The Madness Dome,” supposedly a copy of the Dome filled with mad dopplegangers who, if killed, will give the character clarity of mind for the rest of their days. The party was intensely skeptical, but bought this map anyway.

They followed it to a rock in the middle of Fighting Mongoose territory, where they opened a portal into…a 20′ upside down room with 8 people in it. Two of whom quickly made paper plate masks that resembled Jeb and Classified, and posed as their “dopplegangers.” There was a dude in green robes acting like a hype man, trying to make a big deal about the whole affair. The party eventually untangled what was going on: the guy in green robes was a wizard with minor mind control powers. He’d made a deal with Bal’Urel the demon that if he could corrupt 100 souls he could have greater mind control powers. His plan was to distribute these overpiced maps to get people to come and kill their “dopplegangers,” thereby corrupting their soul with selfish murder. It had not worked well so far.

The party disabled his 8 mind controlled “dopplegangers” with MDMA, and managed to convinced him that a much better plan would be to start a religion. This “kill your double for a clear mind but first you have to buy an expensive map” hokum was too convoluted. Too many barriers to entry. The guy eventually came to agree, and left his weird little pocket dimension just as an orgy was breaking out. The party left with him, but not before Jeb took some time to examine the portal & pocket dimension magics on the rock, making notes for future reference.

Thus ended the interlude adventure.
