Session 141 – MOAR POWER

Because clerics are so adept at identifying magic items, Washington Crusher is quickly able to figure out that the mysterious device draws energy from the sun to open a portal between its current location and Taurtarus which will expand larger and larger until it is several miles wide. The party covers it with a tarp to prevent this from happening.

After returning their loot to Trumpquatia, the party decided to continue their exploration of the sewers. Particularly, they wanted to investigate one of the energy hotspots indicated on the map they had been given by the water reclaimation A.I. brain in session 138. The recruited Ashgar the Resurrector to accompany them, and he was happy to get away from the tedious work of digging…whatever it is that he’s digging. It turned out to be a good thing they did, because the map required the party to access a hidden maintainence tunnel which would have been difficult to find without Ashgar’s knowledge of pre-apocalypse architecture.

As the party traveled they were twice robbed by a child moving swiftly through the tunnels. The party left him some food, but weren’t able to speak to him. Eventually they reached a door labelled “Agriculture 3.” Beyond they found a large chamber lit by sunlamps that were brighter than the sunniest day any had ever experienced. The soil was evidently laid out for agriculture, but was bone-dry from long exposure to the over-intense heat lamps. After some initial exploration (and finding and equipping some Raybans), the party discovered a control center much like the water reclaimation space. There they discovered another A.I., but this one was not working diligently to maintain its systems. Instead it had become obsessed with POWER. Getting as much power as it could, more and more and more power so it could always run all its systems at 100% of their capacity.

The A.I. was completely irrational, and the party plugged in their copy of the water reclaimation A.I. Thanks to some fortuitous die rolls, the friendly A.I. was easily able to circumvent and lock down the mad A.I., taking control of the agristation, and returning it to proper functionality. It would take some time to get the place running properly given how terribly damaged the soil was, but work was begun immediately.
