Session 139 – Let's Just Climb Up Into The Hole!

This session began by discussing the 8th edition rules. Going forward those are officially the rules we are using.

Elias also joined this session playing as Washington Crusher, an Anti-Magic Cleric. His boon is a +1 damage bonus to melee damage. He has a notable mutation which causes him to have basically no memory. He’s constantly got notes written on his arms and legs and hands, and scraps of paper and journals in his pockets of anything he wants to remember. He ALSO has the ability, once per day, of causing a target he touches to forget anything he wants. They are entitled to a saving throw versus Magic, and the length of time they forget is based on how deeply rooted the memory is. They can be made to forget something they saw forever, but they can only be made to forget their name for a few hours.

Also, Losco established two of the lieutennants in his army: one is a Bear in Disguise named St. Linn, the other is a Warlock that is as-yet unnamed.

RECAP:

Jeb put out orders to his Police Force with a description of the cultist woman he pushed through a portal in session 137, requesting she be picked up. Given that she was sent to Redstone Lords territory, where Jeb’s police have basically no presence, the odds of this happening are slight.

The party then dug out the portable hole they originally acquired way back in session XXX. The one that’s only big enough to stick an arm through, opens into a mysterious room, and which the party have been using to store their stash of Nokia N-Gage phones.

Jeb stuck his arm through the hole, and created a portal large enough for the party to walk through. They found themselves in an underground dungeon similar to many they’d visited before. Probably somewhere beneath the Dome.

Exploring the dungeon they found evidence of a massive explosion, and met a few different groups of religious oozes (and gave them drugs). In one space they found a massive safe with otherworldy symbols on it being brute-force deciphered by animated duck-person skeletons. (Not resurrected. Just animated.) Washington Crusher disrupted the magics animating them, and the party used acid to get into the safe. Within they discovered a seedbank, containing significant stockpiles of 15 different species, labelled using the same otherworldy symobls. The party also looted the refrigeration unit.

Elsewhere they discovered a bunch of chests with false bottoms, holding 3300 credits, and a chronicle of the duck people who once inhabited this place, and do no longer.

Elsewhere, they discovered a massive crevice opening in the ceiling, from which a brilliant light emerged. They made several attempts to create a portal up to the surface. Jeb’s spells at the start of next session will begin at a difficulty of 10.

At the top they found themselves in a placed that was clearly part of the sewer system beneath the dome, with one notable oddity: a massive hole opening out onto the surface of Mars…yet the atmosphere was not venting out. Testing revealed a strange sort of force field blocking the hole. The party called out “God, is that you?”
