Session 125 – The Brain Plain

The party decided they wanted to get around to investigating what exactly had happened in Ronnina’s tower back in Session 121 to cause it to explode and for Ronnina to disappear. Jinny Beau proposed a theory: the Neve Canri cultists had worked on Ronnina’s lasorator in session 120, and Neve Canri has always kinda had it out for Ronnina. Starting from that assumption the party picked through the rubble of Ronnina’s laboratory and indeed found bits and pieces of the Lasorator blow in every direction. It was apparently the center of the blast.

Also while digging through rubble, they miraculously discovered that Ronnina’s cage of Bondage Faeries were alive, though severely malnourished and in need of care.

The party called the cult on the phone, who denied having anything to do with the explosion, but the party had the distinct sense they were lying. They then called Bal’Urel who would presumably be able to tell them if Ronnina’s soul was still attached to her body or not. Bal’Urel was in a foul mood as it happens because he couldn’t tell where Ronnina’s soul actually WAS. Upon sharing their information with the Demon, however, he had a pretty good sense of where it might be found, and agreed to send the party to a place he described as “Neve Canri’s Quasidimensional Pants Pocket.” In return, he said, Ronnina would lose 10 years of youth upon her return. The party agreed, and were shifted into an endless plain of squishy grey matter, slowly sliding under their feet.

It was a confusing other world where the normal rules did not seem to make sense. They had to try a lot of different things to move around and understand what they were seeing, but eventually managed to will themselves to the center of the plane where Ronnina was suspended upside down, her thoughts gradually growing out of the top of her head and causing the plane to expand endlessly. Baht Kabza had a similar plane Adjacent to Ronnina’s.

Rescuing the two wound up being as easy as cutting them free from the mechanisms which restrained them, but doing this caused two blinding bright diamonds to appear in the sky. The Eyes of Neve Canri.

Thinking quickly, Jeb thought himself up to the eyes and slapped his neural stimulator onto them, intending to put the god to sleep. While it’s not clear exactly what happened, the eyes–and the neural stimulator–disappeared.

The party escaped with Ronnina (who did indeed age 10 years upon being freed). Jeb remained behind for a bit, consumed a potion of effective conversation, and “communed” with the exposed mind to learn some of Ronnina’s secrets. Jeb learned how to access Ronnina’s vault in Comet Caller territory (which the party claimed as their reward for rescuing Ronnina); as well as the identities of everyone on the Internet high council (whom Ronnina had apparently been spying on), AND managed to quickly gain the abilities of a 1st level wizard with the magic word “Portal.”

Back home, the party called up the cult of Neve Canri to assure them that they no longer suspected them of attacking Ronnina. The cult seemed to be in a bit of a stressful tizzy and wasn’t interested in talking. Apparently Jeb had succeeded at doing SOMEthing to their god.
