D&D&LB, Session 2

Date: 11/10/12
Playtime:
6pm-9pm
Players:
Ronnie, Morrie
Characters: Garret, Drako
Hirelings: Dorvan
Game Date: Deep Winter of the year 16,341 after The Fall (Calendar not yet implemented)
The players returned to the same area of the dungeon and went to room Y-9. They tore it apart looking for treasure, and disturbed a bat living in the chimney there. He attacked them, but they quickly killed it.
The players then headed west, and came to a large cave. Unable to see the opposite wall of the room, they chose to edge along the wall to the east. They eventually came to the entrance of an ancient manor house. In the first room they entered, there were skeletons in hanging cages. They discovered one was holding a sun amulet, and that the cages closed when weight was placed in them.
While exploring one of the manor’s hallways, and removing a painting from one of the walls, a crossbow from behind the painting nearly killed Drako.
While opening a safe, Drako’s finger was pricked by a poison needle. Fortunately the poison had dried, and she was not significantly harmed. Within the safe were a number of treasures, including the deed to a structure called the “North Tower.”
The players explored the manor further, found some books, and a small bath house. In the bath house they were attacked by a large water snake, but managed to battle it into submission.
The only place left unexplored were the stairs leading up, but the players did not want to enter this area, and decided to return to the surface with the treasures they already possessed.

GM: Congratulations on a very successful second session!
You had quite a haul. Here’s what I’ve got.
Necklace from last session (100gp)
Gold pendant with the sun on it (80gp)
2 Dire Bat Wings. The leatherworkers will give you 15gp/ea for them. (30gp)
11% of snake skin. (22gp)
2 giant snake fangs (9gp)
3 paintings of an ancient family. 60gp/ea (180gp)
1 damaged painting of ancient family (20gp)
5 jars of fine bath salts (50gp)
100 gold pieces
That’s an impressive total of 591 gold pieces! Or 295 gold pieces and 5 silver pieces each.
You’re not selling:
The Deed to the North Tower
The Jar of Fetid Water (nobody wants this)
The glass orb.
After a week’s time, the sage returns the glass orb to you. He says that it is one half of a rare magical item. When ever you gaze into one, you can see through the other. He doesn’t know where the twin might be found.
During their weekly meeting, the town council review the deed you brought to town. They agree that it is valid, and tell you that the North Tower is a decrepit old building about a mile north. It has been abandoned for centuries, and is likely filled with monsters, but they agree that no one will dispute your claim if you wish to take control of the tower.
Regarding a place to live: there are currently no vacant buildings in town. There are laborers, though. And the town council is willing to sell you some land. A standard plot of land on the edge of town would cost 800gp for the land. Building a house would cost more on top of that.
Ronnie: Using our funds could we hier some guards to help us clear out the north tower and use it as a base of operations in the area? If that’s what Draco wants to do with the place of course
GM: You can hire a number of people based on your charisma. They’ll all need to be paid, and there is the questions of whether or not you can find all of them in Haetrope.
Ronnie: How big is this tower? Can we expect a couple of goblins or a small army of orcs?
GM: The North Tower isn’t anything like the Ironbone Tower. It rises twice the height of the trees around it, but doesn’t come anywhere near touching the clouds.
As to how many floors there are, and what you can expect to find there? Nobody in town knows. They would have to be fools to try to enter that tower.
