Highlights Recap
With four out of five players present being new, and all of the characters being new, the party had no overarching goals they wanted to pursue. After some discussion Jinny Beau suggested they should spend some time figuring out what happened to Ronnina, who mysteriously disappeared a few months ago. The party asked around to get the details of her disappearance, which turned out to be pretty simple: she was in her lab doing some wizard shit, then disappeared in front of her assistants without any warning. Like a jump cut, one moment she was there, focused intently on some tinkering, the next moment she simply wasn’t there anymore.
Jeb had the idea to ping her phone. If they could figure out where that was, perhaps it would lead them to her. Fortunately Ronnina seems to have had her phone on her when she disappeared, because it wasn’t in Trumpquatia anymore. It was off to the North West, just over the boarder into Redstone Lords territory.
The party set out. On the way they passed a heretical Akiovashan worship place, where the snake had been given legs. They also passed an anachronistically wooden door sealed shut by a thick growth of unseasonable ice.
At one point the party’s path forward was blocked by a gaggle of human heads covered in insect wings, all of which were defecating from their mouths into a dumpster. Jeb used his pain-inducing ability to briefly distract them, which (thanks to a social roll of 13), they actually quite enjoyed. The masochistic flying heads attributed their experience to the party members who shuffled past them as they writhed in pleasurepain.
The party reached the spot where the phone pinged. They texted, hoping to get a useful reply, or at least to hear it buzz. They did get a taciturn, one-word reply, but couldn’t hear it anywhere. Based on that, and how the ping location related to the nearby buildings, the party determined that it must be below ground.
After descending into the sewers they quickly found the phone, hanging from a cord attached to the ceiling. They investigated it thoroughly looking for any information which might indicate where Ronnina was, but no luck. They did, however, eventually spot a bald fellow in a blue bath robe. When M. Perfect Tommy offered to sell him some Mars Scout cookies, the man was interested. Even moreso when he discovered M. Perfect Tommy only wanted useless credits in exchange for the cookies, instead of something valuable like twine.
Realizing who they were dealing with, Shoe’s Level 2 Flailsnails Character used the laces from her shoes to tempt Mad Bill Danger to reveal what happened to Ronnina. He explained that he’d teleported her into the sewers as vengeance for that one time shen she teleported him into the middle of some Lords of Light tower. He thought it was a fitting revenge, and not at all his fault that Rnnina hadn’t managed to find her way home yet.
With her other lace, Shoe’s character convinced Mad Bill to use his divination abilities to lead the party through the sewers, where they did finally find Ronnina, out of spells and happy to be led back to the surface, where the party could muddle their way home. Mad Bill seemed perfectly happy with the way the situation had panned out.
On the way home the party passed by a crowd surrounding Blind General Didelus, who was making an impassioned speech that kinda seemed to be directly criticizing the party, and Trumpquatia.
The party reached Trumpquatia safely, where Ronnina rewarded them from her own coffers.
