Upon arriving in Comet Caller territory, the party decided the easiest way to find a wizard with a Sorbeyak would be to contact The Hangman and just ask her. She gave the party a few options, and they opted to go after Penny the Blue Terror. The Hangman considers her a personal enemy, so the party would win some points by making her life difficult.
Classified acquired a BuildingBuster bomb, hid it inside a cake, and the party set out for Penny’s tower.
The tower of Penny the Blue (“terror” seems to be something The Hangman added to her name) was like a Lisa Frank trapper keeper come to life. Wildly colorful, painfully busy, pathologically whimsical. The party met with Penny’s two fair door guards, and used some smooth talking to get inside.
In the tower, the party met first with Penny’s dog butler, then with Penny herself. They honestly told Penny they wanted some Sorbeyak spinal fluid, but deceptively presented themselves as being willing to buy it. There was some frantic whispering among the party as it seemed like this Penny person was pretty nice and reasonable, and perhaps not deserving of being exploded, but ultimately the party decided to keep to the course they’d originally planned.
She offered to give them what they wanted for 3 of Ronnina’s creation vats, and said the extraction would take about 2 months to prevent her Sorbeyak from becoming too weak to do its job. The party pretended to agree to this (which surprised Penny. She’d started high to give herself some downwards negotiating room.)
The dog butler took the bomb cake to the kitchen, whilst Penny led the party to a subterranean vault where they could view her Sorbeyak. It had colorful rainbow skin. The party distracted Penny the Blue while Poog attempted to ride the thing out of the room, but it was too big to get out the door. When Penny tried to coax Poog down, the party attacked.
Penny got tackled to the ground, but the Sorbeyak moved to protect its mistress. Two gobbos who were helping Classified keep Penny pinned were grappled by the Sorbeyak’s two hands.
The session ended In media res.
The next session will begin with a grappling check to see if Penny can throw Classified off, now that the Gobbos aren’t there to pin her anymore.
